There’s a toll-free, non-partisan election hotline available for voters with Election Day questions or problems.
Leoneda Inge: Faculty and staff at UNC’s law school will be fielding calls as part of the national advocacy protection initiative called “Election Protection.” The number to call is – 1-866-OUR-VOTE. Elizabeth Haddix is senior staff attorney at the UNC Law Center for Civil Rights. She expects a lot of calls.
Elizabeth Haddix: Well the voter ID initiative in North Carolina has been very confusing for people. I know that this is true across the country, but in NC you don’t have to have an ID with you unless it’s your first time to vote, you ed by mail and you didn’t provide identification in that registration application.
About 600 calls came in during early voting in North Carolina. The UNC Law School phone bank will be in operation until 7:30 tonight.
